Mt. Juliet is called the city between the lakes because it is located between Old Hickory lake and Percy Priest lake. Several different parts of Mt. Juliet sit directly on a lake, and lake front homes are some of the most sought after property in the city.
Old Hickory lake has 22,000 acres of water and 440 miles of shoreline. Percy Priest has over 14,000 acres of water and is surrounded by over 18,000 acres of public land.
There are dozens of access points and boat ramps to each of the lakes, allowing boaters to use the lakes from almost any corner of Mt. Juliet and Wilson County. One of the favorite pastimes of a lot of residents is visiting the lake or one of the parks on the lake.
Long Hunter State Park is a large park on Percy Priest lake in Hermitage, TN, just outside of Mt. Juliet. In Long Hunter you can swim, hike, camp, bike, boat and fish. There are also meeting and picnic facilities. For more information, visit the Tennessee State Parks website.
